There are few shows out there that have some of their most iconic moments in season 6. If shows make it that long, sale the sixth season is oftentimes a forgettable one as a show’s audience teeters out or the enthusiasm it once garnered fades. Such was not the case with HBO’s highest-rated drama and with Game of Thrones Season 6 DVD & Blu-Ray arriving this week, illness now’s a great time to revisit the season.
For the season year in a row, visit web Game of Thrones won best drama at the Emmys and for good reason. The sixth season begins where the last season ended: with Jon Snow’s demise at the hands of his former allies.
As the season progresses though, we see what happened after his death and the show also explores the continued rise of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), the Mother of Dragons, and the plight of Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), the scorned mother of the king who is set to stand trial. The ten episode season also features critical looks at beloved characters like Hodor (Kristian Nairn) and the Hound (Rory McCann).
The show is only set to last two more (shortened) seasons but one of the great elements of season 6 is that the show seems to be only ramping up and setting the stage for its concluding chapters. One such example of this is the Battle of the Bastards, the season’s highly-acclaimed ninth episode, which features an unforgettable battle sequence pitting Stark loyalists against Ramsay Bolton’s army. The payoff of such a battle has long been coming.
Audiences don’t know what’s in store for the rest of this beloved series (the books haven’t caught up yet) but it’s easy to recognize the tremendous feats achieved in season 6. This is a show that continues to deliver thrilling stories, emotional highs and tremendous surprises and that’s why the sixth season is a must-own for series fans.
